Every 5 seconds someone goes blind but Braille Bibles exist in only 30 languagesFOR MILLIONS, LACK OF SIGHT SHUTS THEM OUT FROM THE BIBLE'S LIFE-CHANGING MESSAGEBlindness is a tragedy we may seldom think of or encounter. But, for the world's poorest communities, it is far more common than we can imagine. More than 800 million people are either blind or so visually impaired that they are not able to read. With nine out of ten who are blind living in developing countries. If they are to encounter the life-changing message of the Bible personally they must have it in Braille. But for those speaking any of 6,870 of the world's languages that can only be a dream. Many major languages – those spoken by a million or more – still wait for even the New Testament in Braille. For many others, their Braille editions are based on translations that are now so outdated that revisions are desperately needed. BRAILLE BIBLE SETS THE TRUTH FREE IN CHINA
Peng was only young when he lost his sight. Living in rural China he soon adapted to life without sight. Years later a friend told him about Jesus. "He may not remove your physical blindness" she said, "but he's able to banish your spiritual darkness". This was the first step in Peng becoming a Christian. From the day of his baptism, Peng dreamt of owning a Braille Bible so he could read God's word for himself. Eventually his dream came true. Overjoyed, Peng immediately invited his visually impaired friends to listen to Peng reading God's word. Now he plans to become a pastor and share the Bible's message with many others.
